Activists will Take Case of the Cuban Five to the US Social Forum According to the www.antiterroristas.cu website, thousands of people from many countries, mainly from the host nation, will meet in Detroit under the slogan “Another World Is Possible, Another US Is Necessary.”
Coordinators of the National Network on Cuba (NNOC) in the United States, together with other groups in solidarity with the island, are working to bring the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino and Fernando Gonzalez —internationally known as the Cuban Five— to this important gathering and what this case represents in current US-Cuba relations.
The Committee will also sponsor an art exhibit called “From My Altitude,” featuring original paintings by Antonio Guerrero.
The Cuban Five were arrested in Miami in 1998 and they were given harsh and unjust sentences for monitoring anti-Cuba extremist groups that were planning and carrying out terrorist attacks against the island. |
