23 new positive cases to the COVID-19 confirmed in Villa Clara

This Wednesday, January 6th, 23 new positive cases to the COVID-19 were confirmed; of them: 6 imported cases were reported, including 3 patients in Santa Clara, 1 patient in Manicaragua, 1 patient in Santo Domingo, and 1 patient in Ranchuelo; all of them are citizens who arrived in the country from abroad (United States, Spain and Uruguay), 5 of them were confirmed with the PCR test performed on the fifth day.

Also, 17 autochthonous cases were reported: 12 patients in Santa Clara, 1 patient in Ranchuelo, 2 patients in Encrucijada, 1 patient in Sagua la Grande, and 1 patient in Caibarien. In addition, 1 patient did not have a specified source of infection, the rest are direct contacts of previously confirmed patients.

In Villa Clara, 148 local residents, who tested positive to the new coronavirus, are currently admitted to the hospital network; of them 4 patients from the city of Santa Clara are admitted at the Intensive Care Unit, of them: 3 patients are critical and 1 patient is in serious conditions. Aloes, 58 suspects of having the COVID-19 are being studied at this time with real-time PCR tests processed at the Laboratory of Molecular Microbiology of the province.
