Fixed Telephone Density Grew In Villa Clara During 2017

More than 1800 fixed telephone lines, of which around 700 were located in the residential sector, were installed during 2017 in Villa Clara, for a significant increase in telephone density of this type in the province.

As was explained to the press by Dianitsy Barreto Martinez, Communication Specialist of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba SA (ETECSA) in the territory, the most favored localities with the new capacities were the Jose Marti Community in Santa Clara, and the Chiquitico Fabregat Community in Remedios, with the consequent improvement in telephone services in both habitats.

Barreto Martinez said that one of the main achievements of the entity in the period was the eradication of the transfer equipment in the geography of Villa Clara that had more than three years of use, which contributed to the installation of several telephone exchange towers.

Roberto Martin Perez, head of the fixed telephony department of ETECSA in the area, said that the six new plants that were located in Falcon, in the municipality of Placetas; in Mata, in the municipality of Cifuentes; in Jicotea, in the municipality of Ranchuelo; as well as, in Jibacoa and in Guinia de Miranda, both in the municipality of Manicaragua; have entered into operation.

Regarding these last three, Martin Perez concluded that in 2018, the expansion of their capabilities is expected, which will benefit more users who demand the telephone service.
