Historical agreement for the Cuban baseball

On Tuesday, an agreement was signed in Havana between the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) and the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC), in order to guarantee the development of the Cuban Baseball in multiple areas.

Among the main achievements is the posibility of hiring Cuban baseball players and coaches by professional clubs of all leagues in the world, with the exception of the Major League Baseball (MLB).

Higinio Velez and Riccardo Fraccari, holders of the FCB and the WBSC, respectively, described the document signed as historic, which in its article four establishes several issues of bilateral interest, such as the construction and repair of the sports facilities, the supply of implements, the training of coaches and referees, the academic exchange, among others.

This agreement opens a new path for the development of baseball in Cuba while allows the Cuban Baseball Federation to make a list of its players for the interest of professional clubs in America, Europe and Asia, said Fraccari.

The WBSC will guarantee assistance to the Cuban players and the Cuban Baseball Federation and although the MLB was not included in the agreement at the moment, there is optimism about the future of the negotiations with them, because that league should not be excluded from having Cuban baseball players.
