Cuban president assesses computarization breakthoughs in society

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday highlighted computarization breakthroughs in society, the presidency official site published.

According to the website, Díaz-Canel checked the progress nationwide despite the restrictions.

The Cuban president also received information on the results and challenges in the development of telecommunication infrastructures and services until the end of October.

According to Minister of Communications Jorge Luis Perdomo, Cuba started the first 4G mobile phone services in the second semester of 2019, thus reaching 1.46 million users (25,6% of mobile coverage) in just one year.

He also said that one of the major challenges for next year will be to increase fixed broadband services at homes by using wireless technologies, in order to increase capacity and speed.
