The Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) in Villa Clara enabled the access to fourth generation (4G) / LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology in 5 of the 22 existing Wi-Fi zones in the city of Santa Clara, on Thursday 21st.

With the installation of the first Wi-Fi zones, the users will be able to enjoy of a greater bandwidth for data traffic. It will only be enabled for mobile data, voice and SMS services are maintained over the 2G and 3G networks. Therefore, the 2G, 3G, and 4G will coexist. That is why it is recommended to keep the phone in network mode automatically and that the device itself uses the available network, said Dianitsy Barreto Martinez, Communication specialist at ETECSA.

In order to use the 4G / LTE, a cell phone needs to be provided with access to this technology in the frequency of 1800 MHz Band 3, and it must have a USIM mobile line (3-cut card).
