Maduro Remembers Historic Cuban Leader Fidel Castro

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro recalled this Tuesday the anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and his contribution to Latin American unity.

On Twitter, the president highlighted Fidel's legacy on the 93rd anniversary of his birth.

He described him as the Giant of the Cuban Revolution and pointed out that he represents a meeting point for all revolutionaries who view him as a beacon of light to continue along the victorious paths against US imperialism.

Meanwhile, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry recalled the date on the same social network, through a video highlighting the friendship between the Cuban leader and Hugo Chavez (1954-2013).

'When Chavez was born, he already knew that Fidel Castro existed. He already felt it. Those who carry a lot within and have a sea of people beyond to accompany them are those who live eternally,' notes the text that accompanies the audiovisual material. Fidel Castro was born on August 13, 1926, in the Cuban province of Holguín, and died in Havana on November 25, 2016, but his legacy of struggle for the independence and sovereignty of the peoples, of solidarity and internationalism to guarantee the well-being of the most disadvantaged, lives on.
