XIX International Exhibition of Graphic Humor delivered awards

The works “Outside the coverage area”, by Reinaldo Hernandez Valera, and the set of works by Michel Moro Gomez, both from Cuba, won the first prizes in the categories of general and erotic humor, respectively, during the inauguration of the XIX International Exhibition of Graphic Humor, held in Santa Clara.

At the headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in the territory, the exhibition that included the participation of around 130 authors from more than 30 countries, with a presence from all continents, was opened, according to Yamirka Rodriguez Guerra, curator of the institution.

The jury, composed of the cartoonists Pedro Mendez Suarez, as its president, Adalberto Linares Diaz, Roland Gonzalez Reyes, Hamlet Mendez Castillo, and Rodriguez Guerra, recognized the work of the cartoonists after presenting with grace, technical deployment, and suggestive power several trendy issues.

The exhibition emerged as a commemoration of the advent, exactly on December 20th, 1968, of the Melaito humorous supplement, of the Vanguardia newspaper. The International Exhibition of Graphic Humor of Santa Clara became a reference for the artists in the world.
