In Cuba multisectoral actions are performed to prevent the rise of tuberculosis, which can be either pulmonary or stay in other parts of the body.
So said Dr. Barbara Gascon, Health Ministry official in Villa Clara, during a workshop with the participation of various agencies to analyze and improve the lines of work of health promotion and disease prevention.
This and other actions are part of the work being carried out on the subject of World TB Day which takes place on 24 March, and preparations for the national event, set for 22 in Santa Clara.
Mass organizations such as the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the Federation of Cuban Women and the INDER, joined to the representatives of health who participated in this workshop.
At present prevention reach all age groups and social sectors, as well as risk groups. Currently, one third of the world's people suffer from this infectious disease.
On March 24, the anniversary is celebrated to alert the planet and raise awareness about the disease and the commemoration was fixed because that day, but in 1882 Dr. Robert Koch presented the discovery of the TB bacillus to a group of doctors in Berlin, Germany.
