The presence of the Caribbean in the work of Cuban National Poet Nicolas Guillen will be analyzed on Friday at the debates on the issue promoted by the Nicolas Guillen Foundation, at the International Book Fair. Under the theme "Guillen and the Caribbean, writers and experts will talk about the literary work by who is considered a genuine representative of black poetry in Cuban and Caribbean literature.

The program also includes a special space for Santa Lucia's poet, writer and visual artist Derek Walcott, as part of the cycle of lectures dedicated to Nobel Literature Prize winners in the region.

This time, Cuban researcher Margarita Mateo will talk about the life and work of the author of the epic poem "Omeros," an allusive and rewritten story of the Homeric tradition, through a tour of the Caribbean Sea, which sailed that maritime border to reach other lands.

The Alejo Carpentier Hall at Havana's Morro-Cabaña Park, venue of the fair, will also launch "El Exilio Rojo" (The Red Exile), a selection by Mexican Paco Ignacio Taibo II, while "Encuentro con..." will be dedicated to Dominican author and anthropologist Marcio Veloz.

A theoretical meeting on children's literature concluded on Thursday at this fair. Participants analyzed issues related to the current situation of that literary gender in the Caribbean, a region whose texts are far from reflecting the real interests of children.
