The Trova Festival Pepe Sanchez, the oldest music event in Cuba, to be held here next March, will be dedicated to Sara Gonzalez, who died recently. With the participation of Cuban troubadours and guests from Japan and Mexico, the 50th edition of the festival will take place between Feb 15 and 19, during which the city will regain its musical lineage and pay homage to national iconic figures.

A great trova concert will take place in Cespedes Park on February 19, date of birth of Jose (Pepe) Sanchez, a tailor who opened, with his song "Tristezas", opened the tradition of singing with guitars in a city like Santiago de Cuba where these interpretations are part of a secular root.

On the morning of February 19, participants in the festival will pay tribute to essential personalities in traditional Cuban music on the Sendero de los Trovadores at the cemetery of Santa Ifigenia.
